X-ray Phase Imaging with Ptychography and Speckles

Pierre Thibault (Department of Physics & Astronomy University of Southampton, UK)
Mon 21 May, at 15:00 - Seminar Room T2

In the last decade, a convergence between X-ray source quality, detector performance and algorithmic developments have led to new imaging schemes where what is measured is not necessarily what we want to see. In these schemes, natural processes such as wavefield propagation encode information that must be decoded a posteriori. Far from being limiting, these approaches offer flexibility by lifting some experimental constraints, and give access to additional imaging channels. This talk will give an overview of recent developments in the field, with a special emphasis on ptychography, an imaging technique using far-field or near-field X-ray diffraction, and speckle-based imaging, which extracts absorption and phase contrasts using a patterned incident illumination. Extensions of theses methods will be discussed.
